Strawberry Smoothie – Basic Recipe

This is just a basic recipe . . . you can tweak it to your desired taste. It’s not sweet enough, in the beginning, as your body adapts to less sugars, you can add up to one cup orange juice – just keep decreasing the amount regularly. For higher protein needs, you can add whey or brown rice protein powder. You may need to add a touch of water to get the desired consistency.  If you like smoothies, play with the ingredients until you find your favorites. Remove stems from strawberries and wash. Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth.

The addition of tahini (sesame seed butter) helps keep you satiated for a longer period than your usual smoothie.

Prep and Cook Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 large strawberries
  • ¼ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 TBS tahini
  • 1 medium size banana
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 1 TBS honey

Directions:

  1. Remove stems from strawberries and wash.
  2. Blend all ingredients in blender until smooth.

Serve 2 (8 oz glass servings)
