But first, thank you so much for the overwhelming response to my survey. I am so excited to have the new, improved, and expanded Eat Right for Life Plan available and everyone’s help ensures that I am able to make this the best possible product.
I wanted to take a quick second to answer the number one question that came up . . .
How do I lose weight with a super busy schedule (work, home, etc)? I am outside of the home most of the time and time and energy are a factor in eating/finding/preparing healthy meals.
Busy schedules are the number one problem for all people but can become even more overwhelming when you are trying to lose weight, especially with a healthy diet. There are many ways to make sure you are eating healthy meals so you have all the energy you need during the day. This is a huge part of what we work through during the Eat Right for Life Plan. But, I have a couple weight loss tips for you right away.
Weight Loss Tips for Busy People
First, if you can take a few hours once a week to prepare most of the items you’ll need for the week, it will be time well spent. Preparation takes the guesswork out of what you’re eating, plus if you’re in a hurry you can just grab something out of the fridge and run. This is an easy strategy to create a healthy diet and help you learn how to lose weight.
Second, strategically stash snacks in your areas, like in the car, in your desk, in your purse and keep a small insulated 6 pack cooler full of small meals and snacks if necessary. This is really one of my best weight loss tips.
Most of all though, it comes down to priorities. If weight loss is your priority than great. But, if it isn’t than don’t worry about it and know that when the time is right you’ll be ready to make different priorities. It’s important to honor where you are in your life and what you can accomplish rather than beat yourself up for things you think you “should” be doing. But, saying “I don’t have time” can sometimes be an excuse that keeps us from moving forward. When we think about our priorities, we can feel overwhelmed or even guilty when we can’t accomplish our goals. I recommend reframing your thoughts – if you’re thinking I should lose weight or I should eat a healthy diet or I should go to the gym – restate it to I want to lose weight or I want to eat a healthy diet or I want to go to the gym. If these feel right for you, then now your priorities are also your motivation and no longer a chore. If these don’t feel right for you, then this isn’t really your priority and I recommend giving yourself a break.
