Soul and Leader in the Same Phrase?
In today’s world we often talk about large companies without a soul. We hear too frequently about a leader that seems to have sold his/her soul to the devil in the quest for fame or fortune. It may seem this is how the world works . . . it doesn’t!
Leadership is about so much more than if someone knows your name, the type of car you drive or your account balance.
Unfortunately we don’t read about the leader who is guiding with soul or the leader that is directing the soul of business from a place of truth, trust and with integrity . . . those people don’t make interesting news stories to most folks. Very sad – but true.
Leadership Making a Difference
Combating this sadness is Dr. Laurel Geise. Laurel is the CEO of The Geise Group, providing Soul-Guided Leadership training and Mindfulness Programs to organizations. Soul-Guided Leadership combines mindfulness, meditation and management tactics creating the next evolutionary step in leadership. Dr. Geise is the evolutionary thought leader of the Soul–Guided Living movement
This is the type of leadership every company should strive for and Dr. Geise is making it easy by highlighting a leader each week on her podcast. Her guests share tips, tools and techniques and to inspire you.
I was beyond honored when Dr. Geise asked me to be on her podcast. I worried for weeks if I was up to the challenge . . .
Spiritually Agnostic
Yes, I’m a leader. Yes, I’ve been in many leadership roles. Yes, I’m pretty sure I have a soul. But, honestly, I’m a bit iffy on the whole organized religion thing. In fact, a couple of my more devote friends have termed me “spiritually agnostic”. Actually, I liked that and I’ve embraced it.
I believe there is a power that we may not be able to understand. But the question was . . . am I qualified to represent as a soul guided leader?
Honestly, I still don’t know. But, I definitely had some tips, tools and techniques that I feel have been my guiding forces. I’ve been granted at least three chances to keep trying when others would have succumbed to death, so maybe I’ve learned something.
I’ve tried to honor these chances by continuing to help others . . . by being a good leader. Maybe that’s enough. For Dr. Geise it was.
Interview
This week, as we look toward a new year, I felt it was the perfect time to share this interview. Hopefully you will find inspiration. (please forgive that the recording starts with a commercial).
